The University of Lagos has officially announced its UTME merit admission cut-off scores for the 2026/2027 academic year, providing prospective students, parents, and guardians with the minimum points required for merit-based admission in various programs.

According to the information released on the university’s official platforms on Wednesday, Medicine and Surgery has the highest merit cut-off score at 83. This is followed by Computer Engineering with a score of 82.175 and Computer Science at 82.05.


Other notable cut-off scores include Mechanical Engineering at 79.275, Law at 79.125, and Dentistry at 79.025. In the Faculty of Social Sciences, the scores are as follows: Economics has a merit cut-off of 73.625, Public Administration stands at 70.475, Political Science at 65.65, and Geography at 55.7. The Faculty of Education has a range of scores from 49.65 for Education Economics to 66.7 for Education Integrated Science.

Mass Communication requires a score of 74.6.

Each program also has distinct, typically lower catchment scores for applicants from the university’s designated catchment states, which include Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, and Oyo, reflecting Nigeria’s federal character admission policy.

UNILAG previously announced that candidates who selected the university as their first choice and scored a minimum of 200 in the UTME could participate in its Post-UTME screening exercise. The recently published departmental figures indicate a more specific threshold that candidates must meet for their desired programs after the screening.

The university advises prospective students to carefully compare their scores against both the general merit score and the catchment score relevant to their state of origin. They emphasize the importance of relying solely on official UNILAG channels for information regarding admissions, screening timelines, and cut-off marks, warning against misinformation from unofficial sources.

This announcement marks the official commencement of UNILAG’s admission process for the 2026/2027 academic cycle.
